The 911 era was given the green light in 1963, 15 years after the revered first sports car from Porsche, the 356,
was introduced. Its successor was originally dubbed the 901, but because the manufacturer Peugeot already had
copyrights for every combination of three digits with a ‘0’ in the middle for future models, Porsche had to find a new solution. Necessity became a virtue. The ‘0’ became a ‘1’. The 901 became the 911. And the 911 became a legend. Porsche Driver’s Selection is commemorating the legends of 1963 with their very own collection.
